President of Mexico Highlights Connection of the Interoceanic Train with Guatemala

During her morning press conference, Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, spoke about the project to extend Line K of the Interoceanic Train to Guatemala, with the goal of creating a development hub that spans southeastern Mexico and various regions of Central America. She also highlighted that the project is already underway on the Guatemalan side.

Sheinbaum emphasized that this initiative has a humanitarian vision, as it seeks to address the root causes of migration through development with justice and well-being. It aims to create opportunities for Guatemalans and all of Central America, always with respect for nature.

“So the conversation was about that, and also about the development hub in the south of the country together with Guatemala. That is, creating a corridor where there are industrial parks in Mexico and also in Guatemala, with manufacturing development in the area—possibly agro-industrial,” she explained..

El evento abordó innovación, sostenibilidad y adaptación al crecimiento urbano. Del 15 al 20 de noviembre del 2026, REMED representó a Guatemala, destacando el impacto de la reactivación ferroviaria en el desarrollo regional y el futuro de la movilidad urbana sostenible latinoamericana.
