April 5, 2022, marked a milestone in the history of transportation and regional economy with the start of the Mexico-Guatemala Railway Revitalization. This ambitious project represents a key opportunity to strengthen the Guatemalan economy, generate jobs, and boost international trade.
The event was attended by government officials and business sector representatives from both countries, as well as delegates from the Government of the United Mexican States, who expressed their enthusiasm and support for the initiative. The revitalization of Guatemala’s railway system will not only modernize logistics and goods transportation but will also boost economic integration and sustainable development in the region.
We are working to restore Guatemala's railway capacity and, in doing so, provide new growth opportunities for its people. The interconnection between Mexico and Guatemala will strengthen trade, generate jobs, and lay the foundation for a more prosperous future.
The revitalization of the railway is more than just a project: it is the driving force of a new era of development for Guatemala and the region.
On November 18, REMED participated in the forum “The Role of Rail Transport in Development,” held within the framework of the 38th Annual ALAMYS Congress. During his presentation, the Director General, Juan Manuel de León, emphasized the need for regional rail integration and highlighted Guatemala's potential as a strategic platform for development, transport modernization, and sustainability in Central America.
REMED participated in the 38th Annual ALAMYS Congress in Lima, Peru, a forum that brought together leaders from the Latin American rail industry. The event addressed innovation, sustainability, and adaptation to urban growth. From November 15 to 20, 2026, REMED represented Guatemala, highlighting the impact of rail reactivation on regional development and the future of sustainable urban mobility in Latin America.
